This yatra is one of the Char Dham Yatras and holds immense religious significance for Hindus. Kedarnath is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is believed to be one of the holiest shrines in Hinduism.
The journey typically starts from Delhi, and travelers make their way to Haridwar or Rishikesh, which are major cities in Uttarakhand and serve as a base for the Char Dham Yatra. From Haridwar or Rishikesh, you will proceed to Guptkashi, which is a town situated in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand. It is a common stopover point for pilgrims on their way to Kedarnath.
The Kedarnath Temple is the main attraction of this yatra. It is situated at an altitude of 3,583 meters (11,755 feet) above sea level. The temple is known for its unique architecture and is believed to have been built by Adi Shankaracharya in the 8th century. The best time to embark on the Kedarnath Yatra is during the summer months from late April or early May to November when the weather is relatively pleasant and the temple is accessible.

Day 2 : Haridwar — Guptkashi ( , Trek: 220 km/7-8 hours ) 1,319 meters
After breakfast, depart from Haridwar towards Guptkashi, which is about a 7-8 hour drive.Guptkashi is a base for the Kedarnath Yatra, and you can rest here for the night.Check-in at your hotel and relax.Overnight stay in Guptkashi.
Day 3 : Guptkashi — Kedarnath ( , Trek: 20 kilometers/7-8 hours ) 3,583 meters
Early morning, start your journey to Gaurikund, which is the base point for the Kedarnath trek. It’s approximately a 1-2 hour drive.From Gaurikund, you can choose to trek to Kedarnath (approximately 14 kilometers) or take a helicopter ride if available.After reaching Kedarnath, visit the Kedarnath Temple, one of the holiest shrines of Lord Shiva.After darshan (worship), you can explore the surrounding natural beauty.Overnight stay in Kedarnath.
